The water sloshes on the shore, with your eyes closed you imagine the boat across the lake that created the ripple in the glassy lake top. The evening is setting in and the clouds boast your routine 4pm thunderstorm. Dipping your toes into the cold mountain run off you shiver and and then quickly throw your head back with laughter at the drunken prospect of going swimming. Seconds later you're fully submerged in the water gasping for air as the cold water strangles your lungs. Laughing as gasping... summer is here.
The lake, regardless of location, has always been high on my list in the summer. It's refreshing when you feel choked from the hot days, it provides endless entertainment, it's sounds are soothing, and Jackson Lake especially is never hard on the eyes. Waking up to these views, your hair smelling damp and smokey from the camp fire and adding a cup of hot coffee to that equation, whew, I'm not sure you could ever beat it. Do you have a favorite body of water or summer spot?
